Open letter to All Heroic Fighterfighters:

It broke my heart to learn a Firefighter was shot; as he worked to provide assistance at the scene of an auto accident. Thank heavens he survived, I pray he will be able to fully recover asap. I pray that was an isolated incident.

The majority of people respect; admire and deeply appreciate the services each of you provide during life altering emergencies. Firefighters run into homes and buildings engulfed in flames, in their quest to rescue unconcious or injured victims. They often rescue pets as well as humans, then provide oxygen to both victims.

Firefighters, Police Officers and other first responders prevent anarchism from destroying our planet. Thank you for the sacrifices you've endured in order to serve the public.

Sincerely appreciative,
Barbara Baggett

A 20-year-old emergency volunteer who had recently joined a local fire department was shot while responding to a traffic accident on Long Island, authorities and a fellow volunteer said.

The suspect was killed and the responder’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Members of the Bellmore Fire Department and Nassau Police Department responded to a report of a car accident — a pickup crash into a utility pole — at Bellmore Avenue and Claxton Avenue in Bellmore on Long Island’s South Shore at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
