MOUNT CARMEL (NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY), PA: On November 7th at 08:15 hours the Mount Carmel Fire Department and AREA EMS were dispatched to 244 East Second Street in Mount Carmel for a house fire. Mount Carmel Police arrived on scene in minutes and found smoke venting from the three story row home. He confirmed it was a working fire and determined there was no one still inside the home. Captains 5 arrived on scene in minutes and request to have the second alarm dispatched to the scene. Ladder 2 and Engine 2 arrived first and established water supplies from hydrants. Hose lines from Engine 2 were deployed and attacked the fire from the ALPHA Side. The remaining units of the department staged in the block and sent their crews to Side ALPHA. The fire was quickly spread into the next door exposure homes. Command then ordered the third alarm which brought units from four different counties. In about twenty minutes it was determine to evacuate all crews from the homes and to make an exterior attack with large hose lines. The heavy fire was then knocked down allowing crews to reenter the home. A second evacuation was sounded when the roof collapse in the primary fire building. It was then determine to use elevated master streams from the ladders that were on scene. A tanker task force was also operated in town and supplied water to the ladder trucks. The Kulpmont, Altamont and Englewood RIT Teams stood by on ALPHA Side of the homes. Crews remained on the scene till noon searching for hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire.
