Makes me wonder howcome one firefighter is fully geared up, with a charged line and ladders in place. Maybe the rescue unit had a problem while going to the scene... so this firefighter was alone with the pump operator in the pumper I guess.

whoa .... so many possibilities... would be nice to hear form on of their team members as to what went wrong.

According to the description on Youtube this wasn't training.

video is to short to tell what is going on. This could easily be a training but again everyone should be bunkered up.

Its possible that their turnout gear is stored on trucks that have not made it to the scene yet.

John, I don't recall Uvalde being that poor of a town. Looking on their website (http://uvaldetx.com/content/safety) they appear to have adequate equipment but their insurance rate sure is high. Last I knew, Uvalde was a thriving tourist, recreation & hunting small town. This to me seems to be a sore sight of lack of leadership for starters or quite likely the lack of available fire fighters at the moment but it's difficult to tell because this video is entirely too short. However, what that guy is doing on the roof with the attack line in street clothes with obvious fire showing through the upstairs window is beyond me, especially with a fully bunkered-out fire fighter up there, too. Again, it's too short to know just what is going on up there but it sure doesn't look good. Y'all be safe out there!

It appears that the one FF in PPE was sent to the roof to get the local citizen off the roof. In that, he did a good job. Lets just pray the rest of the FFs arrived shortly thereafter.

I have some old gear and wouldn't mind sending it to them if they need it. That's just crazy....... Are we sure that those people were just not citizens lending a hand until more FD personnel arrived on scene?

It is very possible that they can't afford it. I remember when the department that I was with first got bunker coats, and the first SCBA. A lot of cookies were sold to pay for that stuff. Note however that we operated effectively before we got the PPE. Uvalde is a very poor town.
