Yep, removed by user on the youtube site. Wonder why they did that....embarassment maybe?

I meant to mention the guy trying to start the chainsaw, too...wonder if he ever got it going? I sure could have used this at training on what NOT to do!

I know sometimes on our scenes we get POV's that show up without gear and still expect to help but we won;\'t allow them. Maybe a case of that here.

Our department lives by a standard "we'll let the house burn to the ground before we will sacrifice a firefighter's life". I have been in this situation before and had to take the hose away and yell at the guy to leave, I have seen firefighters from another department, on mutual aid, in a doorway without PPE coughing and hacking still trying to tend a hose with fully bunkered firefighters standing on the lawn looking through the front window not doing anything. Training, SOG's and discipline need to take over on the fireground.

Looks like my former Volunteer Department.......in the 1970's. Seriously though, with not only a fully bunkered FF on scene, but what appears to be a Police Officer, this must be a standard operating proceedure. I simply can't think of any valid reason why somebodies life would be put at risk, regardless of the lack of video.

I personally like the guy trying to start the chainsaw. Seems to me that these guys need some kind of fire department intervention.

vid is definetley too short. non the less it is a structure, no one without PPE should be on the roof. they can rebuild the house.

last time I checked 2 in 2 out meant you were fully bunkered. it does look like there is a crew out back, you can see an 1 3/4" line goin around back, who knows if they are bunked. I would really like to hear why the chief or Commanding Officer did not step in and stop this, watch we find out that the guy on the roof is the chief, its sad if so!!!

Like Mario stated, I, too, would like to hear from a member of UVFD.

I dont want to play Monday morning Quarterback without having all the info. But there should be NO reason for someone to be on the roof without Bunkergear and SCBA the Firefighter had a charged line and ladder. Why was he on the roof alone without backup unless to get residents or neighbor's who came to help before the FD showed up.

It's also a story entitled "House Fire" in their local paper online: http://www.uvaldeleadernews.com/news/article_69171608-1c40-11e0-b79...

Even worse if it is training because it shows a total disregard for FF safety and is a bad example for others to follow. As for having gear on trucks, I don't buy that: who leaves their gear on apparatus in a volunteer department? In the pics from the local paper, I see gear bags on the lawn so that tells me more than one went POV. I also think there could very well be others on either another side of the structure or interior, most likely not the latter since there's not much support there for an interior attack. Hope no one got injured.
