it's not a question of being nuts or not is a matter of skill and nerves of steel (lol) but I think we all have a tinge of madness, we firefighters. Beings placed in a container for the current doings of flashover, also have their madness. Stay Well

To complete my previous comment, some years I was called to open a door of a dwelling, because a child (three years) had closed the bedroom door and was stuck in the room when we arrived the place was a 3 floor checked that the window of the balcony was open and the child was out, and the gates were of iron, but the child was between them, I asked my colleague to come up and I quickly picked up and climbed the stairs to the floor.

FETC, we do not attack the fire without having our full equipment, but it is hard, sliding down the banister. But this technique can be quite useful, for example arrive at a fire and there is a victim who is scared and wants to jump, and for any reason you can not get along with her self ladder, and the interior is slow progression, I with this ladder, climb up and take with me a cable, I come from the victim and reassure her, go down the cable and pull a bag of ransom, with BOUDRIEU, cable 50 mt / 20mt, eights and carabiners and tape. Put the tape and snap photos like the above, and put the victim in BOUDRIEU and it dropped with a firefighter in the descent down to control it. Should always be a technique used with two FF. After the victim down, a water line and I can start the attack on the fire too. There are several ways to use the stairs, not the one. but we know that we have and we can use.

I am still amazed that places do with what they got. Clearly this was practiced alot to understand the concept and "feel" of that ladder to have confidence that it would slip off the rail when performing the cross balcony climb! Like I said, damn brother.... same as attempting to fight fire without full PPE as well.

Hello, we continue to use the hook ladders, and is part of our initial training of firefighters, and I must say, continue to be useful.
