And why can't this be used to get to the roof of a common building if the roof your on starts to fail and your cut off from your egress path? Check out some of the commercial or row houses in your area. In a perfect world you'd have more than one way off. In reality, with cut backs and short companies, the FAST team might have to throw a ladder, ground or a main to get you down. This could give you the extra time to escape.

It's true it's not so safe to practice it, but i think it's good to know it 'cause it can help you if you're in a dangerous place and the only way to go out is this technique !

The technique can be seen easily but is not safe, it requires much practice and experience should be used as an alternative action.

so what do you do when the hook falls and you lose your balance? or it is a true wall and its an 8 foot drop on the other side? or you fall backwards when you try to step up to the hook? i see a lot of potential safety issues here.
