Hobart (IN) Apartment Fire
FD crews were dispatched to a reported fast moving fire on the rear balcony of a 3 story multi-unit apartment building. On arrival crews advised of a working fire to the rear of the building. Crews made an aggressive interior attack, but were forced out within minutes. The fire progressed into the roof and breeze way consuming the entire building. Crews from Lake Station, New Chicago, Portage, and South Haven assisted and no injuries were reported. Fire investigators were working on the cause, initial reports showed outdoor cooking may have started the fire. June 16, 2010.
