Hidden Fire Makes For Difficult Fire Attack In Gary Indiana

GFD was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the rear of a former bank at 5th and Broadway. On arrival Engine 1 advised of light smoke showing. After an extensive search the fire was located in the basement which was almost impossible to access. Two lines were stretched and the fire was brought under control. An additional two engines and an ambulance were requested to the scene due the amount of work to be done. Crews remained on scene for well over an hour and nobody was injured at the fire scene. When did staying out of the toxic smoke & wearing correct PPE go by the wayside? They look like a THIRD WORLD Fire Dept! Both GFD vidoes show one guy in dark blue coveralls & longer hair busting his butt all over the scene, he did more than half the white shirts standing around. OMG!
