Franklin (MA) 5-Alarm Masonic Temple Fire

www.SNEFireNews.com
A large building was gutted by an early morning fire in the center of town in Franklin, MA. A second alarm was called shortly after companies arrived on scene to find a fully involved structure on Dean Avenue near Dean College. Quickly, the fire had reached 5 alarms with around 100 firefighters on scene, many on mutual aid from surrounding communities. At one point, at least 5 ladder companies were set up around the building, all soaking the fire from above while crews also worked on the ground to protect exposures. Smoke billowed through the area into the daylight hours. No injuries were reported as of early Friday morning.

Was it a total loss?
If buildings like these end in a total loss no matter how many resources to bring to the party, with local, state and federal budgets like they are real thought needs to go into just setting up min defensive streams and letting it continue to burn instead of committing big dollar apparatus to the scene including manpower pay roll and OT
