Firefighter Training for UFO Response

An intriguing report going around the Web again a few months after this news report was originally posted ... about a chapter in a training manual about emergency response to UFOs.

In all seriousness though, there was a mass UFO sighting in my area along the PA and OH boarders about a decade ago, which has been well documented(I DID NOT witness it however, haha). But, the more credible witnesses such as the police officers, EMS crews and firefighters who witnessed it had no clue of what to do. So, I can see this thing coming in handy.

Comment by jerry baldwin on January 21, 2009 at 6:15pm: having seen this i am frankly "speech less". i can see the useful ness of having such a training manual. after all we train for all kinds of things that likley will never happen to us. seriously what is the odds that i will ever be required to perform a rescue from a 40 or 50 story building when the tallest buildinjg in our protection district is 2 stories? most of us will never see a backdraft, we train so those things don't happen. think about it, how many times have you heard at your station "what are we going to do if....?"
on the other hand i have to say that i can't help but to think that this is more than just a little bit ridiculous.

Comment by Gus2620 on January 20, 2009 at 4:21pm: Yeah, we all laugh now, but you know when that big silver saucer lands in the town plaza of East Podunk, Nowhere, people won't be cell phoning the Pentagon or NORAD. They'll be dialing 911 and we'll beat the black helicopters there by about 30mins. Then, if we're not immediately disintegrated or taken to the mothership, we'll be saying "where's that damn book?"

I was told about this book several years ago. It, or earlier editions, have been around awhile. I've never seen it but I was told the UFO section is only a few pages that just puts out a few really basic ideas.

p.s. I guarantee they won't be looking like 'Number 6'
