Firefighter Rescue - Basement Window Extraction

This technique can be used to extract an injured or unconscious Firefighter out a basement window using a piece of equipment that is carried on most fire apparatus - A folding or pole ladder. This is obviously not the only option for this type of extraction, but in many situations it can be very effective.

Some basement windows are just too small for this type of removal, while others will need to be enlarged. When possible Firefighters should take advantage of vacant or acquired structures to practice unique and difficult rescues. When buildings are not available, props are an excellent alternative.
