On December 19, 2011 FDNY Rescue 2 Firefighter and Islip Fire Department volunteer firefighter Rob Weidmann suffered second and third degree burns to 54% of his body while operating at a structure fire in Brooklyn, NY. 3 months later, after multiple skin graft operations, Rob was finally released from NY Presbyterian Hospital Burn Center and returned home via motorcade, police and fire department escorts, to a sea of fellow firefighters, friends, and family in front of his home. Rob still faces a long road of rehab and recovery, but his return home is a great step in his recovery process. Wishing you the best towards your recovery, brother.
