East St. Louis (IL) Bldg. Fire

0300 hours reported working house fire, police on scene 1st. On arrival was a 1.5 story frame with fire showing. Quick knock down after we made entry thru the security bars. Sorry about the faulty PASS device in the beginning. Filmed with Fire Helmet Camera prototype. www.FireVideo.net

Comment by Nathan Street on March 1, 2010 at 11:24pm: Yeah im not happy about that pass either but it looked as tho they were the first on scene and as long as he stayed outside and in veiw of command or the driver i could see him hitting it from the exterior until releif came so he could switch out. What bothered me most i must say was that after all of the fire damage and the water weight that was present they still had guys on the interior wetting it down. It was obviously an older house judgeing by the slats and horse hair plaster!

Comment by Kathy Williams on February 17, 2010 at 4:08pm: Was this a vacant house - is that why there were security bars, double padlocked, on the front door? The front windows didn't look like they had bars, so why protect only the front door? Because it was inside an enclosed porch???
