East Hartford, Conn. Second Alarm House Fire

From YouTube: East Hartford (CT) firefighters battled a two alarm fire, Thursday, April 16, 2009, at multiple family home at1439 Main Street. The fire broke out around 3:15 PM and quickly went to a 2nd alarm. Fire officials said they had heavy fire showing from the second floor front porch with overlapping fire to the 3rd floor. 11 residents were left homeless and 1 firefighter from East Hartford ladder two was injured when he was struck in the head by a haligan bar while opening up the ceiling on the 3rd floor. The firefighter was knocked unconscious for a brief time and fellow firefighters had to remove him from the building. He was transported from the scene by ambulance but later released. Fire officials don't know what caused the fire but believe that it started on an open front porch on the second floor.
