From You Tube, DAYTON, Ohio - A Dayton firefighter is under investigation after the fire truck he was driving hit a car. It happened at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Weaver Street Monday morning.

The district chief said his firefighter had his lights and siren activated and looked both way at the stop sign on Weaver, but did not see the car coming toward him. The car was heading down Euclid and made it almost entirely through the intersection, before the fire truck clipped the back end of the car.

Witnesses said the car spun 360 degrees and landed against a pole.

"She climbed out the window, and I said, "are you ok? Are you ok," said Darrell Malcom, who witnessed the crash. "She was going into hysterics. She wasn't really responding to me."

District Chief Mark Whisman said anytime a driver is involved in a preventable accident, they are reprimanded, and that's exactly how the district chief categorized the crash.

"On [an] emergency run we stop at red lights. They'll stop, be sure it's clear," he said. "In this instance the trees obstructed his view and he didn't see the car coming."

The woman driving the car was not injured. Her teenage son was taken to an area hospital. His condition has not been released.
