Daniel Island (SC) Medical Center Roof Collapses During Fire

WCSC-TV Channel 5 Video - DANIEL ISLAND, SC - Charleston firefighters worked a multi-alarm fire that destroyed a medical office building, causing the roof to collapse early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out at 899 Island Park Drive around 2:30 March 1st, which is not far from the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center.

Firefighters first reported seeing flames shooting 30 to 40 feet high from the building upon arrival.

Five different Charleston area fire departments worked from the outside in to put out the fire. No one was injured in the fire.

The building housed Parkwood Pediatric Group and Crescent Moon Orthodontist.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.

I found the video and tactics employed by the Charleston FD to be exemplary. Surround and drown was an appropriate tactic considering there was no life loss potential and the building was already a complete loss. Everyone went home and the insurance companies can handle what's left. No structure fire is worth dying for.
