Close Call Video: Wall Collapses on San Francisco Firefighter

In this close call video, at about the 1:18 mark, the wall collapses on top of a firefighter. He walked away with a broken leg and other non life-threatening injuries, extremely lucky.

Okay, just so that we're clear, he didn't walk away with just a broken leg, matter of fact, he has had multiple surgeries, and has been in the ICU since this happened. He won't be going home for quite some time, and might have career ending injuries. Have I ever found myself in a situation that I should not be in? Yes. Have I been lucky enough to realize my situation before it deteriorated, yes.
We shouldn't have been so aggresive on an unoccupied structure. Its true that when it comes to hazards, all personnel are safety officers, but ultimately, its up to the ICS to watch our backs when we get tunnel-vision. Someone was sleeping on the job that night.

A few of us here in Tooele county set up a small memorial for the three brother who died in the plane crash in Stockton Utah last month I just wanted to let there family and friends know that someone was thinking of them on memorial day and every other day since then if you are a family member of one of these guy, worked with them, or know how to get ahold of anyone who was one of the two please let me know so I can send the pics to you thank

That guy missed out on the number one rule of firefighting... NEVER turn your back on the FIRE! And I agree that they shouldn't of been that close also! Prayers go out to him and his!

I have to agree with Andy, why were they that close, my thoughs and prayers are with the injuried firefighter, lets learn from this video. Conditions looked bad lets remember the collapse zone.

That was scary! I have relatives and friends in SF. Keep in mind not all bosses in SF are quaified to be a boss! Joe, be safe!
