A serious topic put to the public in a somewhat humorous way, encouraging getting sprinklers installed in the home. Sent around via FirefighterCloseCalls.com, the video is by the Fresno, CA Fire Department.

The National Association of Homebuilders has worked very, very aggressively to block attempts throughout the United States for mandatory residential fire sprinkler systems.

I think the message in this video about a sprinkler system in residential buildings is superb, however, I take issue with three scenes that I believe are un-acceptable. First, we are taught in basic training that you never straight stream someone as you can injure them especially in the eyes. Second, the firefighter making a pig out of himself at the dinner table. With Health and Fitness Programs today, I think firefighters don't need to be portrayed in this manner and I think most firefighters today eat properly for their health. Third, in Fire Prevention Programs that we teach school kids, one of the things we point out is for them not be afraid of a firefighter in full protective clothing and a SCBA mask and here we have a firefighter scaring an infant to the point of tears.
