Scott, Prior to the Pierce deliveries, WFD operated with fairly new KME equipment, including a TDA. Ladder-2 was an 100' E-One rear-mount, which had been making the rounds of the trade shows and sold as a demo. In the early 1990's, a tillerman was promoted to Chief of Department, and in my mind the guy was clueless. The department's equipment roster was in such bad shape that local vollie departments donated apparatus to the city in order for companies to remain open. Replacing the roster with Pierce equipment was the brainchild of former Chief Jim Ford, who used a grant from the county to make the purchases. Lou
