I agree it was already vented why another ? When they opened the roof you could see the glow just a waste of resourses on the roof. What i didn't see was any water flow other than on the roof where the 7 were.

What the hell is going on with the leaders of our profession?
It seems that even after the many discussions RE Boston truck operations awhile back the question of poor incident management and lack of concern for firefighter safety has spread across the nation.
Is it inexperienced and/or untrained officers in command of companies?
Is it inexperienced and/or untrained officers in command of sectors or incidents?
Is it inexperienced and/or untrained officers in charge of conducting post incident reviews and failing to take corrective actions with those that allow these things to continue across the fire service?
The one thing it is NOT, is the lack of brave men and women who are willing to do what their leaders ask them to do even at the risk of their own lives.
Our brave firefighters deserve better leaders!

I agreee, too many on the roof, and this may be small but did anyone have there air-pak on proper, I see they may have had them on there backs but no one wearing a mask, do we not teach wearing the pack and the mask when fighting fires inside and out.

Don't know , maybe they are different. Get off the roof

Good crew integrity--but does anybody actually know what they're trying to accomplish...?

It's a discretionary call, I confess I don't even know what our sog is on this, but it did seem to me that one guy on the chainsaw, one on the axe, one on the hose would be fine. As soon as those vent holes were cut, however, I'd want to get down ASAP. No sense hanging around up there. Having said that, I would NEVER second guess these guys, because I was not there, and I don't know all the details. Thanks for the video! I love the topic. BE SAFE OUT THERE!!!

That looked pretty stupid! Look at how many could have been hurt if that collapsed. My chief probably would have suspended us all for such stupidity.

Um,,,why?

WOW, amazing they didn't fall in!! The roof was already venting in at least 2 other sections. This is why we need competent officers to be in charge. This was a tradgedy waiting to happen. Lets hope they wear their seatbelts!!
