You may have a ladder, but how many surrounding areas in your vacinity have one? There might have been one that they had access to, but by the time the mutual aid was sounded, it was probably already too late. I'm not saying they didn't try, but there is no point exhausting your resources for something that is already a lost cause. You may have had fires of that magnitude, but how many of them were actually salvageable? As for "poor public service", they showed up didn't they? Poor public service would be them not showimg up at all. They did show up, worked their asses off and that's all they could do.

First off, Grimshaw is a small community, they don't have access to a ladder truck, and by the time one got there it would've been too far along to do anything effective. A community of that size is lucky if they get 20 members to show up for a call. As for the POV's, I can guarantee that 80% of them were onlookers or media. From what I saw in the video, only emergency vehicles were on the fire scene.
You have to understand, these small communities sometimes don't have the resources, and definately not the water supply for these "once in a life time fires". Hell for some of the members this is the biggest fire the will see. I'm guessing that by the time everyone arrived on scene, the building was a write off anyways, at that point it becomes a non-intevention and there is nothing you can do.

Where was the ladder trucks?????? Looked like you guys had too many POVs in the area , only saw one engine at work and only a few handlines , I know it wasnt an interior attack operation by looking at the building , but couldnt there have been a more aggresive exterior attack???
