Brandon should watch the video again.

The Fire Department acquired this structure for training, with the end goal to burn it down so the homeowner could build a new home on the same site.

The Fire Department trained on the structure all morning and into the afternoon. We set small fires inside the house with hay bales and pallets. Crews entered the structure and extinguished the fires. We also trained on forcible entry, ventilation and search and rescue. After everyone had gone through each station at least once, all personnel were removed from the house, and it was set on fire by lighting a small fire in the kitchen.

Masterstreams were set up on each exposure. Four pumpers were on-scene, plus a 9000 gallon swimming pool water truck.

The entire operation went without a hitch, was well organized, and saved the homeowner $10,000 in demolition costs. It also provided real-life fire training for some of our members who have never had live-fire training outside the local fire school.

Nothing was out of control.
