The former Ethan Allen Interiors (furniture factory) in Union City, PA burned Thursday, 2 Dec in a massive 6 alarm blaze.
(This was my friends video he took, credit goes to him)
The fire started around 1130am, and by 5pm, equipment was still being called to the scene. The blaze destroyed a full city block, including a number of small businesses housed in the former industrial complex, and damaged a number of surrounding houses.
No injuries were reported, but the building was a total loss. Operations continued well in to the night, and as of 10am on the 3rd, it sounds like units are still on scene.
The fight exhausted Union City's municipal water supply, forcing firefighters to draft from nearby French Creek, pushing water nearly 2,000' up hill via 4 separate 4" supply lines. In addition, an active tanker shuttle was under way from the creek to holding tanks near the scene. Even with the extensive water supply task force, water pressure issues were still evident well in to the afternoon.
Nearly every volunteer department in Erie County had at least one unit on the scene, as well as a number of departments from Crawford and Warren Counties, as well as Chautauqua County, NY.
A partial list of departments involved:
Erie County, PA: (incomplete)
Union City, Wattsburg, Cory, Waterford, Edinboro, Northeast, Elgin, McKean, Kearsarge, Mill Village, West Lake, Perry Highway, Kuhl Hose, Spartansburg
Crawford County, PA
Cambridge Springs, Centerville, Bloomfield, Titusville, Saegertown, Meadville Central
Also at least two unknown departments from Warren County, PA, and at least 2 unknown departments from Chautauqua County, NY. If you know of any departments that aren't on this list, please leave a comment and I'll add them.
