It happens less than 3 dozen times a year that the Regensburg FD deals with 3 calls at the same time - now I caught one of these rare moments:
On Thursday, 19.th of December, a garage fire in the north of the city was reported at 6:23 PM. The Regensburg FD responded with Command unit, Chief, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Ladder 3, the Regensburg VFD Co 23 came with a Crew Van and an Engine, furthermore dozen EMS and police units were dispatched. The garage was part of a mixed healthcare, shopping and office building. My video starts with the 2nd call, as Aerial 3 was dispatched from the garage fire to a medical assistance in the north-east of the city at 6:45 PM. As I arrive on scene, a very rare-to-see ambulance approaches: A former ambulance from the Berlin FD now runs as spare ambulance for the Malteser EMS in Regensburg. Then, just after Spare Aerial 1 coming to the front of the building, an automatic fire alarm at the BKH county hospital (nowadays only hospital for psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychosomatic medicine, and neurology) was set off at 7:02 PM, and most of the crews leave the scene. They had to hurry: the BKH is at the other end of the city. You see Engine 3, Aerial 1 and Chief leaving the scene first, then also the new EMS Chief car from the Bavarian Red Cross. At the same time some ambulances decided not to drive through the city, but head the other direction in order to take the highway 93 and 3 around the city. Then at 3:40 in the video I am on scene at the BKH hospital, some EMS units are on standby at the University Bus Terminal. Then a van from the Riot Police and an ambulance leave the BKH. There was a malfunction with a gas powered grill, which set a wooden hut and a party tent on fire. With the Regensburg FD, the Regensburg VFD Co 12 and Co 19 and further EMS crews were dispatched.
