The book written about this event (3000 Degrees) is a chilling story that allows one to imagine what it must have been like for all the firefighters on the scene, and especially the ones who became lost in the building. I didn't think anyone was prosecuted for this fire, but yesterday I came across an old article on the web stating that the two homeless people who started the fire were charged. How incredibly stupid and tragic that, when they ran out of the building, they didn't immediately go to a phone, or a person, and report the fire. I also wonder why the building was left vacant but standing for so long?

It's hard to believe it has been ten years. We spoke of this at our department meeting on Thursday night. We will always remember the selfless service of the Worcester Six.
