Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
I worked for a small department that taught me a lot. It was a 2-man BLS engine. Our first due was wedged between two large counties, which were our mutual aide. The closest unit could be there in about 15 min. But on a fire scene you better have a lot done already by then. With only two people one person must be IC and the other the engineer. Every person that worked there must learn all aspects of the job that many firefighters don't learn for years.
My Training:
I am certified as an EMT and Florida State Firefighter. My next step in my career is to pursue a paramedic certification. My department has trained me in many aspects of the job that might be encountered, most recently, personal escape.
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Everything about it fits my personality. Adventure, an new challenge everday (you never know what to expect), showing compassion for patients, always something new to learn (training or cooking). Providing care when people really need you (even if its just because they need somone to talk to), very physical, keeps you active.
