Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined because its in my blood... I'm a third generation firefighter. I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
it is my passion. ♥

About Me:

Hey. My name is Tiffany Scherer. I am 24 years old and have grown up in the fire service. Literally... my first stop after birth was my fire station. I am a third generation firefighter and currently fight alongside my father, uncle, and my younger brother. I joined the department as an auxilliary member until I was able to join as a member. I recenlty just got promoted to an EMS LT and I'm loving all the extra work. I eat, sleep, and breathe the fire department. I'm what we call a "FIRE NERD." My best friends are all on my department; John, Ronnie, and Tim... and Kellee and Tina are on the auxilliary. I'm both a volunteer and a part timer. I actually put in more hours of service time than every member including my dad and uncle [Chief and Asst. Chief] I take pride in everything I do and love every minute of it. I couldn't ask for anything more. I also work at a local hospital full time and take classes at two local colleges, Clark State and Sinclair. I have a busy schedule, but I still find time for my family, friends, and myself. Besides my 21 year old brother, Christopher, I have a 15 year old sister, Samantha who is the best friend I have ever have. We call ourselves twins that were seperated at birth ten years apart. She is my rock and the most important person in my life. I have a sister in law, Kristi, who is 19 and a 4 month old nephew, Eli, who I call my munchkin. I am happily taken by my best friend and couldn't imagine it any other way. I'm looking for a house to buy in my small town, but haven't found "the one." So the search continues... I own an Escape which is my baby and a gps that I couldn't live without. lol. I'm a giver not a taker.. ask anyone. I hope one day to find my knight in dirty bunker gear ♥ lol. I hope to get married one day and have atleast two children. Even though that means a little time away from the fire department I'll find some way to cope. =]

Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. In addition to the relatively cool videos and fire scene photos, there are numerous groups, discussions and chat available.

If you have never had the opportunity, take a minute to explore firefighterclosecalls.com and the secret list. This is a wonderful web site to explore and learn from the mistakes of others. It is also, sadly, a roll call of those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, in their service to their communities.

We have all joined the Public Safety Community for a variety of our personal reasons. Some of us are paid, while others volunteer. Many are firefighters, while others enjoy the EMS side of the house. We have active firefighters, line officers, chiefs, administrative officers, and a number of old timers who have seen most of the mistakes already made at least once. We have firefighters with many many years of experience, and others that, well, don’t. All are welcome here in The Nation. We welcome your input, just as we hope that you learn from the experiences of others.

Personally, I have 31 years service to the local fire department. I have held most line officer positions, and some administrative as well. Now part of the Old Guard so to speak, I am less inclined to go charging into where others are trying to escape. Instead, I choose to monitor the fire scene closely, attempting to ensure the safety of all on the fire scene.

I welcome you to the FFN. Here we all share one common goal.....

Everyone Goes Home
