So our dept gets paid an hourly rate for trainings and calls as well as a monthly rate for being on the dept. We carry pagers and respond to the hall when the call comes in- so we are part paid- yet I still hear the comments that we are volunteers which I don't quite understand- which are we?- by the way I do know- but there are other opinions
