I want to give back to the Community around me, which has helped me so much in the past. I feel it's vital to have dedicated Emergency Services Personnel to help those at their worst.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Aside from the fact I think we are all adrenaline junkies to an extent, it feels good to see the looks on people's faces knowing you saved their pet, their home, their car, etc. The feeling is indescribable.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I think some of the most difficult situations going on in our present lives is trying to do more with less given the Economy's condition. Budgets are slashed, Volunteers are hard to come by anymore, and the call volume is not diminishing, it's increasing. When you couple all of these issues together with trying to mesh Volunteer and Paid staff together efficiently, it makes for a rough road ahead. The challenge is keeping it together when everything else is burning up. That's what I live for.
