About Me:
I'm currently I'm recovering after having surgery while getting injuried on the job as a police officer.. I am still an EMT and have been one for over 29 years. Married with children, and enjoy helping people and making a difference in the lives of others...
I'm also an ordained Minister, and simply enjoying bringing people together...
Known here in Fredericksburg, VA as The Singing EMT
Please click below link and read an article written about myself...
For me it's hard to believe that I have been on the ambulance for 29 years... It's truly been a learning thing, for me... Yet I learned more not just about others, but about myself....
I joined after having a tour w/ my friend David Newsome at Station 15 in Mont Co. Md. As I was touring around the station, got 3 taps on the shoulder, after walking through a door.. But no one was there.. Walked back through the door, and there was the ambulance, and as I went to reach for the door on that ambulance, it took me back 11 years prior to a moment in April 1969, when a funny looking vehicle was parked in front of our house, with lights flashing brightly, and 2 men were trying to help my dying father, and as I was looking at them through my bedroom window as they were taking my dad away, and a little 8 year old boy said "One day I want to do what they are doing..." No sooner had I been brought back to opening that ambulance door, and when I opened that door,on that ambulance in the Captains chair was my late father sitting there with a Big Smile on his face, and that was 29 years ago....
Why I Love Fire/EMS
EMS because you truly get to make a difference not just to people, but to yourself...
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The lack of truly assessing the scenes and at times not seeing the real dangers.... as they approach the certain scenes....
At times the lack of the old guys helping these new guys.... Know how to look for things and how to be safe.... For too many new EMTs & Medics think that they know it all, when they haven't even step foot in the back of the unit, or have gotten there feet wet...
It's not like it was 29 years ago, it's gotten tougher on those who ride the units.. It's just us old generation, who simply need to teach the news guys/gals how to take it easy and not make big mistakes....
