I am one of the few people that I know of that was able to live out his dream job. I am one that always remember where I came from. Being with BVFD was a large part of my life and I enjoyed all the years there with all my brothers and sisters. We had our ups and downs but always reemained friends. I am a Life Member of the department now but not active.
Every since I couldn't become a police officer because of my height and weight at the time, I decided and dreamed of being on the fire dept. This was one of my dream jobs and I was able to live it out.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The gratification of helping others and the friends thatt becomes your brothers and sisters.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
This is a thankless job and you will see much devastation and trauma. It is hard when you come up on an accident with a fatality and find it is a ten year old boy that you knew and where friends of his parents and him.
