Thank you for alowwing me to come into your blog. The picture you see is my dad Captain Vance Tomaselli. He died in the line of duty Feb 21, 2008. I have trying to obtain the PSOB benefits allowed to myself and my brother. They have denied our claim saying that although we are indeed beneficaries on his most recent life insurance policy, that information wasn't given or asked for from the agency he worked for therefore we were denied. I was reading an article yesterday on your blogs that had the same problem with PSOB. I am now in appeals with PSOB. I was wondering if anyone out there can help me with this or have any more information regarding the requirement of PSOB on having this information with department prior to the Line of duty death??? What are your state laws say about this is it illeagal to obtain this information if the department doesn't issue any life insurance policies??? Why would human resources ask for this information unless they were told by the dept of justice that it is a requirement so that all you firefighters can get this information to your agencies?? Maybe the Dept of justice isn't telling anyone so they don't have to pay???? What a travisty for the families of the firefighter who risks his/her life everyday to save others.
