Hey Mace, Its been awhile, did you see that there is going to be a FFN get together the 3rd weekend in june in Michigan? If you care to come down send me a note and I'll get the details to ya.
I,m retired from the trade now and have very little to tell I,m afraid. Some day I,ll sit down and try to remember some good stuff while I was in the trade.
Got about 30 cm here.I,m at a clients house as they have gone to Mexico for a week. They had a neighbour up the road come down and plow out but I did a better job shoveling it myself as he backed the truck in as far as he could and just made one pass.If he had been paid for it he would have got nothing as far as I,m concerned.
Randy, good to hear from you. I am a Fire Marshal here in South Carolina but my home town is Toronto, Ontario. Unlike up there, I am a Police Officer and wear a gun and hand cuffs every day in my fire department uniform. My parents, as well as my sister an her family, live in the Orangeville area and I get up there a couple of times a year. We should get together at Tim Horton's up by the Canadian Tire for a double-double. Be safe.
here is how my week is going first the cascade system we just bought last febraury is shooting oil out the air fill tube for the cylinders so now i do not know if there is oil in any of the cylinders the new guy filled or not had to pull four complete packs out of service and all of our spares because he decided to top them all off. nowi have to check them all some how. then the chief is mad at me for pulling all those cylinders out of service but i told him it is a safety issue. then the alternaters went in our brush truck, and our tanker has developed a massive air leak and i still have two more days left in this week. but any way hows things goig for you this week.
Hello Randy, good to hear from you, glad everything is well. No,I dont have my skates we really do not need them down here in the deep south. Our number of runs have slowed down also. Had a run last night paged out as a broke leg,end up being a Life Flight call the pt. tried to cut his foot off,(almost did it)with kitchen knives!!!!You know that hurt. When we get trauma calls they are really different? Keep in touch, stay safe and alert
we bought an engine off a nearby station it was newer then our old one a guy crossed the center line and clipped it three weeks after we bought it from them no one was hurt. then yesterday our in house ascade system broke down it is pumping oil threw the fill line for the cylinders but other than that things are getting better!
Well, I wouldn't bode well at hunting either as I have a difficult time keeping my mouth shut for long periods of time (yeah, I'll admit that).
As for the weather...it's cold! However, the upside to cold temps...no precipitation! I don't mind driving in snow but it's the ice storms that make it difficult.
Hi Randy, Yes you had some big bush fires ina America last year. My Fire Management boss and two others from my District when to America to help over there. I like the snow, but I have only seen once at Threadbow at Canberra while over there playing hockey. It was great. You also have Geloruprookie as a friend. He has just started with us in our District and is in my crew. He is a good guy. I try to look out for for the guys, as i like the outlook we all go to war and everyone comes home. He got bogged yesterday, but that country is like quick sand, even with your tyres let down. He does good and is a top worker. Usually we have a big fire every year around Australia Day jan 26th. That is suppose to be our roster weekend off, but they can cancel it. We do conservation duties while not fighting fires. Which can be from weed control, reserves, conservaqtion parks, recreational areas, feral animals, native animal trapping, 1080 poison baits for fox, wild cat & dog etc. So our work load varies all the time. Sitting in Fire operations room doing standby 9am-6pm. Ill sign off for now take care. erin
Hi Randy. the fires I attend are in our Government National Park, Conservation Parks, Reserves. These can be our own presribed burns or in the Summer Wildfires. Working for the Department of Environment & Conservation you have other roles of work threw the year. The are always challenges out there. I work in the bush heaps. I love my job. I work in the Fire Management Services before the Prescribe Burns start. I compile burn files for each burn, our fire truck maps, and all Duty Officer Roster File. Keep Fire Operations manuals and quite a lot of other data records. Audit two-way and hand held radios in alll equipment, vehicles and trucks in our District of Wellington. We are having a hot period and it is bad time for us at the moment. I was on call till ten tonight. I thank you again and maybe I might have a few different ideas that may help you, Sounds great anyway bye for now Erin
