of course i enjoy it!!!! i was a cadet on our dept for 1 1/2 years (primarily emt side then they let me try fire side) I LOVE EVERY BIT OF IT other than when people think its funny to fuck around on the fire ground! i technically am not an emt or a FF.....yet i am ALMOST done with FF2 n i have finished EMT class but havent passed the state exam to get my license what bout u
i believe we call it RIT......Rapid Intervention Team. if a FF is in distress these r the boys tht goin in 2 save ur ass! they r stationed by the engine company on our dept n our ready for a moments notice. they get 2 do things at the fire scene around the engine company (tht way they at least have something to do n get to do something)
i should have known what BA was.....as in SCBA..DUH! ne ways im really not sure bout that. i have been a cadet for a 1 1/2 years n i just made probie...i only been one for 2 weeks! im startin 2 learn more bout our SOP's n SOG's on the fire side. i no a lot of the SOP's n SOG's on the EMS side
yea i missed A LOT of good calls! 2 bad i wasnt here 2 go on them though.....im in FF2 n could have been signed off on some of my practicals. we usually arent busy.....10 big fires a year n then 50 calls for alarms goin off. we then have 400-600 some ambulance calls a year. so r u real busy working as a FF at an airport??? when i was in chicago waitin 4 my flight 2 leave i saw the airport fire truck about 9 times in 3 hours. i guess what im tryin 2 ask is what actually do u all do.....do u clean up the jet fuel when it is spilled?
my trip was great! i was a student ambassador for 9 days. im glad to be back home. i missed a 2 semi accident, a truck fire, a barn fire, n a pt tht went to the hsptl 2 get his stmach pumped bc of alcohol poisoning. i went to paris france, london, oxford, cantebury, woodstock, and heatherow england.
Andy, welcome to the FF Nation. I am glad you dropped in to join the group. Dont be shy. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all. Takes a bit to kinda figure it all out but you will be glad you did. Have fun and look around.
