Today we had a problem with a lady in the area which I'm sure 90% of all volunteer departments have some crazy person that think they they're your boss cause your there for the community well our tanker had a dead battery so we had it out chagring it and doing drivers training to charger this lady hits the roof saying "I'm glad to see my F***'in taxes dollars going down the F***'in drain for that Fat Son of a ***** to just drive around" so i explained that we pay for all gas and the truck is ours and that whats the poiunt of the truck if it won't start when we nedd to and then she says the same thing so i told her to have a nice day and asked and reminded her that when she needs us we are there then she starts in on my officer in charge and he hit his breaking point then tells her to go the chief or the commsioners what do yall do?

Heard this before. Tell her to join the department, put in the least amount of training time to still be a member. Then she can help as vol. members to not wast her tax money. I have done this. They seem to have a different trend of thinking afterward.

Well, I would tell her:
Mom; button your house coat and get your arse back in the house!
She complains about the garbage guys too.
Did.

"I understand your concerns and I thank you for sharing them with us." Leave it at that. She wanted to start a confrontation. The best way to deal with that is to defuse it as quickly and quietly as possible without bruising her ego.

Sometimes it will take years of classroom instruction to show taxpayers why it's so important to have that big fat truck ready to drive around to a fire. We have a lot of people in "high places" asking why we need so many departments with so many of the same types of apparatus in our county and even when we have a major fire that puts all of those tankers into service for one incident, they still ask why we need so many of them. It should be boneheadedly obvious but for some reason, it's not and it never will be.

Send her to the Chief.....that's what he is there for....To take the crap.....then when she leaves rag on about the ignorant old B_tch with the rest of the people around......LOL...Not worth your time or your breath to address this sort of thing.....Can't make everyone happy....Hey, we have one person like that around our place (and he is a member)....LOL

well, let her know that you hear what she is saying. ask for her address so that you can pass it on to the tax receiver's office and commissioner board. when she asks why, inform her that you will do your best to have her address taken off the tax rolls for the fire service, that the commissioners need to inform her insurance company, and that she will also be added to the local Do Not Respond List. if's she's truly crazy, she do it, then call the police and have her committed. otherwise, she'll shut up and move on with a horrified look.
"HAVE A NICE DAY LADY!"
