Upcoming Additions to Firehouse Zen

Over at Firehouse Zen we are going to add some new interactive features. Well, they aren't exactly "features", like fancy Flash animation or anything (although I'm learning that now and might play with it on my site- but I digress). No, it would be my welcoming each and every one of you to participate in the following:

  • The Weekly Weasel - I will ask for you all to submit a short bit on a past or current boss whose leadership style, to put it nicely, isn't what we consider to be model behavior. Without naming the person or their department, just let us know about a trait this character exhibits that we can use to illustrate (through comparison) an example of how NOT to lead. I know you won't have any trouble finding an example- they're everywhere. Which leads us to the next feature-
  • Brain Surgeon of the Month - This doesn't have to be necessarily associated with leading, but can be a quick story or link about someone or an organization whose hubris and complete lack of sense are counter to what we consider "best practices". I'm not interested in picking on people who aren't wearing their gloves or happen to be caught picking their nose on camera. I'm talking about people who take federal money for Homeland Security and use it to buy racing lawn mowers, or people who think HAZMAT mitigation involves an assault rifle and improperly worn respiratory protection, or people who think it's okay to use a leaf blower to fan an RV fire. Know what I mean?
If you have a candidate for any of these, feel free to go to Firehouse Zen and submit your entry. If you are going to talk about me, I just ask that you change your story a little bit so I at least continue to think I know what I am doing. And while you are at it, feel free to "like" our page over on Facebook and pass the info on to your friends as well. We have a lot of information to share on enlightened leadership and the more people who give us feedback, the better we can prepare ourselves, because we can learn from everybody.
