Last Saturday the McLeansboro Fire Department took delivery of a 2300 Gallon Pumper/Tanker that we were in great need of. We were always relying on mutual aid calls for tankers all the time because we didn't have enough water.

Congrats on the new Pumper/Tanker. We just bought a used one that holds 1300 gals.

What did you get?

What are the other sizes of the other tankers in your area? Are they all over 2,000 gals?

We find the larger tankers are great for large water needs......but in a tanker shuttle they
need a separate fill site to keep a shuttle moving if the other trucks range from 1,000 to
1,500 gals.

They are also great as a nurse truck for filling the porta-tank in between tanker runs until the
shuttle gets a good rotation and more tankers on the scene.

If we know we have the larger tankers coming we set up a special fill site. Most of the time
its better to have two fill sites going to keep things moving.

There is nothing worse than a bottleneck in filling trucks and the IC's pulling his hair out and asking for water. So to help the IC keep his hair the more portable pumps and/or engines filling the BETTER.

Good luck with the new truck, stay safe, train often and share knowledge.
