Salvation Army and Hancock Hope are teaming up to provide hand warmers to those facing the harsh winter while working on recovery efforts in the Hurricane Sandy affected areas.
Hurricane Sandy pounded the east coast with a storm surge that buried metropolitan areas of New York and New Jersey with up to twelve feet of water. The late season storm flooded hundreds of homes and businesses. Recovery is projected to take years to complete.
“Anything we can do to ease the affects of the cold temperatures for firefighters and recovery workers is worthwhile. We are proud to have the opportunity to work at this level with Salvation Army on the Warm Hearts, Warm Hands project.”..stated Dan Macakanja, Executive Director of Hancock Hope of Buffalo, NY.
For seven years, Hancock Hope has been providing emergency service agencies throughout the United States in their time of need racking up tens of thousands of man-hours of volunteer service, distributing thousands of dollars in needed equipment and gear, as well as some emergency vehicles.
