I don't know if anyone else out there besides the cadets and explorers feel the same way, but I am getting tired of reading responses to cadets and explorers posts that are seemingly attacking these young FFN members. I don't care if you disagree with them or not. Just don't attack them. You don't aggressively attack other members with lots of experience who make stupid posts nearly as much as you do the younger ones. I believe you all are just picking weak targets. Would you talk to your own kids this way? I would hope not. So with that said, if you don't agree with them either a) Ignore them or b) Be a little more polite about it.

The reason you smack a puppy on the nose with a rolled up newspaper is so he doesn't grow up to be a mutt.
Juniors are not a "weak target"; they are simply "weak". They get strong by learning and they can't learn as long as their mouths are engaged.
And you don't go on the internet to second guess the teachings of your fire department.
You use email or private messaging.
Kids today don't know when to go public and when to go private.
And then complain if they screw the two up.
Tough love is still love, man.

Attacked? Hardly. He was reprimanded/put in his place for 1) presuming to know enough to give technical advice and 2) responding back to a very experienced FF in a snotty and rude tone. Go back and re-read those posts Justin. Maybe you can read it and NOT see the rudeness and very typical arrogance common in junior responses but I and others DID see the rudeness and I personally called him out on it as did others.

Maybe, instead of immediately taking sides with those that are only a few years younger than you (and with not much less experience than you) you recognize the rudeness and bad attitudes for what they are rather than think the fault lies elsewhere.

As for comments/posts by older members, I personally have made the same comments to those older members. I have little tolerance for fools or stupidity. Irrespective of the fact that children are allowed on this site, I have yet to experience any situation in my adult world where children are considered and treated as equals. Once they turn 18, no matter how immature, they are legally adults and thus can suffer the consequences of their actions, words and deeds. Til then, they should be seen and not heard.

I agree with you on the fact that when juniors/explorers do make rude comments then its game on. My problem was that a cadet responded to a forum with advice he had heard from one of his officers and he was attacked for it. I find that to be uncalled for.

I don't think "attacking" is the issue. The issue is that when the juniors/explorers ask for advice, get good advice from seasoned firefighters, then come back with inane comments and rude comments with the intent of blatantly disregarding the advice, then they're going to get called out on it.

Blatant rudeness and stupidity tends to get called out around here, regardless of the age of the person posting said rudeness and stupidity.

And no, I wouldn't talk to my kids that way, because my kids do not display the kinds of rudeness and stupidity under discussion.
