thanks for the advice guys I was thinking that would be the best course of action I asked how the other guys got it done and they all apparently have relatives in the fire service but I'm going to just knock on some doors and see what happens

I like Pauls answer more than my own, mine being, Why not just talk to those other cadets, ask them the question, you brought to us, after all, they know.

Boy you aren't asking for much are you...? LOL....You can do what many others have done...Go out, beat some doors down and compete....yes, compete with the other 1000+ people that want the same job as you......that's how it is done.....Maybe ask about the loan of some gear for the academy...maybe someone an help you there...or even get involved with a Vollie Department and get a taste for things to come....then go to the academy and bust your ass and show that you have the drive and desire to become the best you can be.....Good luck, stay safe
