Hi, I was goin to school for nursing but recently had to come back home for some personal reasons and I was a nursing major. I live in a small town in ga and want to move somewhere to a big city and be a firefighter/medic and possibly work with air evac. I had heard that you can become a paramedic and then bridge to an registered nurse. Will it be better to do that or just go back and get a 4 year degree in nursing? I was thinking the bridge but, I know some of yall are more experienced in this line of work so yall might can tell me some info or maybe know a better route for me to go? Any feedback will be thanked a lot.

My wife is a RN at Barnes in ST. Louis and I am a Medic with the ST. Louis Fire Dept. We have friends that have tried to bridge from medic to RN. But their r very few schools that do this. I would stick with nursing and bridge to Paramedic . More money in nursing. Harder to find and get a job with a big Fire Dept. In this day alot of Depts are trying to close fire houses and lay off help.
