Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...March 22, 2009
Yesterday I had to go to the scary place to visit my daughter. My stones help a bit, but I can't shake that feeling the rest of the day. Have to go today too. It just makes me feel uncomfortable, like a surreal experience. What keeps me from going insane is going to the firehouse later on to hear the stories. I love the stories!!!
On another note, I had some time yesterday so I created a whole diagram in Publisher of the different compartments of our engine, and where everything is stored. It's for only me, unless my officers want to share it with the new people, so I can memorize where everything is stored.
Next, the ladder truck. When I showed it to my 15 year old who has learning difficulties, he said "Mom, that's how they teach us everything nowadays." Ah youth. He's going to be a police officer, and he was not impressed with my extensive graphic. Just liked my little arrows.
I knew he was going to be a cop when he was two, looking back. We never bought play guns except for water guns but he used to make his own out of sticks.
