NFFF & Everyone Goes Home Program Launch Firefighter Safety Video Contest

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Everyone Goes Home program are pleased to announce their partnership with Fireman's Fund to launch the Everyone Goes Home Safety Video Contest.

The contest, which runs until May 7, 2010, asks departments to show their safe culture by creating a video based on at least one of the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives (see below). The 16 Firefighter Life Initiatives were developed by the American fire service in 2004 as a move toward reducing preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries. In 2005, the Everyone Goes Home program was developed to ensure that firefighters have the tools they need to reduce firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries and promote a culture of safety.

We are encouraged by the fire service's focus on training and incorporating safety into the culture of their department; as a result of their vigilance we are starting to see a decline in the number of preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Everyone Goes Home program continues to develop resources that promote safety, training, risk management and materials that are a catalyst for reducing firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

All departments, regardless of type or size are encouraged to submit their videos that focus on training, health and safety, and risk reduction. These resources may appear on the EveryoneGoesHome.com Web site for use by other firefighters across the country to promote safety within their department. Video submissions will be reviewed based on the official contest rules and judged for their quality content rather than their production quality.

Through the generosity of Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, two grand prizes will be awarded to the departments with the most outstanding videos. These winners will receive a Bullard T-4 Max Thermal Imager to further enhance the safety of their department. An Honorable Mention winner will also receive a special acknowledgment for their video.

For more information and the Everyone Goes Home Safety Video Contest entry package visit EveryoneGoesHome.com. Entries must be postmarked by May 7. All videos received become property of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Videos featured on the EveryoneGoesHome.com Web site are at the sole discretion of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

About the Everyone Goes Home Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives Program
Everyone Goes Home is a national program by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to prevent line-of-duty deaths and injuries. In March 2004, a Firefighter Life Safety Summit was held to address the need for change within the fire service. Through this meeting, the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives were produced and a program was born to ensure that Everyone Goes Home. For more information about the Everyone Goes Home Program visit www.everyonegoeshome.com or contact us at 877/344-0361.
