New truck woe's....Just venting.......

Our department just purchased new truck from Philiadelphia. On our way back with it from Philly, it broke down on the turn pike! 100 miles from the next exit!! The repair men robed us blind to fix it. All it was, was a blown antifreeze hose. He came out and messured it, went back to his shop, came back to put it on, cut it to short, so had to go back to his shop and do it again! Charged us for every trip he made and his mistakes as well. but he had us by the balls, Since we were from out of state and didn't have much choice. Either pay or have it impounded! Part was $37.00 bill total was $1275.95! Had to charge it to my personal account to get it fixed. I think he thought it's a fire department they have money! My department is small town!! Runs on about $12,000 a year!! Most of that goes to insurance!! And Bank payments!! We run mainly on our fundraisers, and donations. I hate when people take advantange of others, just to make a buck!! But on the plus side the truck is great! It is such a great asset to our town!

Truck's not brand new, just new to us. I have written a couple of letters of complaint! The Philly department, said they would cover the cost of the repair. Hope they keep true to their word. They also said they were going to be contacting the repair company, they have worked with them befor and it the bill has never been that bad.

Just wondering...was it under warrantee? I know certain companies get turnpike service contracts but if it is a brand new truck I would send the manufacturer the bill. You wouldn"t be the first dept to get a new truck with "flaws"! I agree that sending a few well placed complaint letters would be a great idea.

Payback can be a bitch too...why not spend a little time and write a letter or two or three or four (you get my drift ?) Send one to the Mechanic's shop, send one to the mayor of the said town, send one to the local chamber of commerce, send one to the State Attorney Generals Office and hey why not, send one to the local paper (editor) to print in the letters to the editor section.....May not help you this time but who knows....?
