For the past couple weeks I have been working with someone from the National Marrow Donor Registry to encourage Vermont firefighters to join the registry in support of Firefighter Chris Fretta of the Castleton (VT) Fire Department. It occurred to me this morning that this information needs a wider audience. There has been information on the Nation in the past about the registry, but perhaps it's time for another reminder!

Help Chris & Others!

Chris Fretta, 24, a volunteer firefighter from Castleton, Vermont recently discovered he had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. While Chris is currently responding well to treatment, he may need a marrow transplant in the future. The Fretta family and friends of Chris are asking for your help. Not just for Chris, but for the many other patients like him.

Tissue type is inherited so Chris’s donor will most likely be of Irish, Italian or Dutch backgrounds; however, donors from all backgrounds are needed. There are many people in the world in need of a bone marrow transplant. In Chris’ honor, please come and register to be a marrow donor. You could save a life!
