Just cause your young dont mean you wont pass out in training.

Hello everyone,

Hello Everyone my name is Robert Howard and i am 21 years old. We had training recently on air management, Simple right, well at least i thought it would be. We were doing search and rescue training. Me and my partner were on the first rotation of the training scenario. We went in and started our search, we found the victim and seceded with our first rotation. After a visit to rehab and having our vitals checked and helped rilled the cylinders, i was asked if i was ok with doing one last rotation with a member who didnt have a partner. I felt that i was ok to do another rotation. Half way into our rotation I started felling a little light headed and noticed my breathing started to increase a little more rapidly. i tried to proceed with my partner in the rotation when the safety officer noticed that i was having a problem. The safety officer immediately stoped the training session and notified the asst. chief who was with the medical rehab team. The asst. chief and the medical team along with the safety officer begin assessing me. After words I went back to the training room and begin to wonder what happend? why did i just do that? Well i think i figured it out. one have not eaten in a while. you have got to eat before any type of training, and 2 i think it was because i was already a little sick. So just cause your young dont mean you wont pass out and you got to eat before any training. Well guys and girls thanks for reading this i hope it helps some people out Yall be safe out there and have fun.

Thanks, Robert Howard

I would agree with FETC, unless they checked you blood glucose levels there at the training site and determined it was too low. Otherwise, I would usually suggest that a near syncopal episode during training warrants an eval at your local ED. You don't want an undiagnosed problem rearing it's ugly head again, next time when you're in the real deal.

Hope all is well with you Robert, but unless you went to the ER after this incident your underlying cause for the condition is at best, a guess.
