European style helmet
MSA

Draeger

Most of our helmets have build in neck curtains for neck protection but we all use hoods under the helmet with neck curtain.

In most cases the hood will be under the mask. But some of us pull the hood over the mask like u would do in cases u have the normal mask with the head bands. Most of the SCBA masks we use have special clip the connect the mask to the helmet (see picture) so we can put our SCBA masks on without removing our helmets.

One FF here in Finland injured himself severely, by falling through roof in middle of fire and this quick connection mask/helmet ripped off from his face.
Only accident what i know happened by Quick clips.. Two years now, and hes back on duty.

I prefer hood under the mask straps.
As SCBA we use Drager, but in this newer vol.dep i havent been in SCBA training yet, so don´t know any better detail about them..

The mash / helmet combination showed here in the last picture has a very good seal. This is tested on dummies, and i have never had leaks in action. It works with a spring and is pulled to the face.

It is very different than the helmets used in the states. Thats why i showed it here.
The biggest advantage for the helmet/mask combination is that u can put your SCBA mask on very fast and without taking your helmet of your head.

Does the masks that clip on to the helmet hold a tight seal? and can you adjust them??
