Theres a lot of talk about arrogance. Politicians, departments, officers, and members making decisions that can be seen as arrogance. These people making comments, actions taken, and the way they present themselves could be seen as arrogant. I question where the line is between arrogance and pride.I take pride in being a firefighter. I take pride in responding to every call possible. I take pride in doing what I can on scene. I am proud to say " I am a firefighter". A bystander may see such talk as bragging and/or arrogance. Firefighting is no different than any other job. The longer you do it, the more you train, and the harder you try....the better you will be. Every person needs to take pride in their work. If you take pride in it, you do it as well as you possibly can. The difference between firefighters, police officers, servicemen and other occupations....we will risk injury to save others.Whether you see it as pride or arrogance doesn't bother me. I don't need somebody elses praise to feel good about what I do. As long as I know I did my best, I will always be proud.
