Deborah Straszheim’s update on Alan Ackley’s inane, insidious antics in today’s New London paper is old news. Ackley continues to act the mad fool navigating—if you can call it that—the Poquonnock Bridge Fire District right toward the shoals of financial and public safety disaster.

Straszheim reported that Ackley and another board member (probably Ackley’s brother) asked the PBFD chief for a plan to close the Fort Hill firehouse, which is smoke and mirrors. Closing the firehouse will save the district $40,000 in building maintenance, so every time you hear Ackley the Liar say “close firehouse” think “get rid of firefighters” or “bust the union.” The only way to cut the PBFD budget by half is to get rid of half the firefighters. . . .
