FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
THE FOURTH ANNUAL SALUTE TO FIREFIGHTERS EVENT WILL RAISE CRITICAL FUNDS FOR FDNY MEMBERS SUFFERING FROM WTC ILLNESSES AND TROOPS INJURED IN THE WAR ON TERROR THROUGH THE ADAM’S ANGELS BROTHER-2-BROTHER INITIATIVE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2009 AT SALOON IN MANHATTAN.
On Thursday, September 24, 2009, firefighters, military members, veterans, 9/11 family members, and compassionate supporters of New York's Bravest will host the Fourth Annual Salute to Firefighters to honor our fallen heroes and recognize the sacrifices made everyday. 100% of the event proceeds directly benefit the Adam’s Angels Brother-2-Brother initiative’s partner charities (NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation, Inc. and SSGT Christian Engeldrum FDNY Veterans of Foreign War Post #12033) to provide support and resources for FDNY members who are suffering from various WTC illnesses and military members who have been wounded in the war on terror. The Fourth Annual Salute to Firefighters will take place from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM at Saloon (1584 York Avenue between 83rd and 84th Streets).
Each year, A Salute to Firefighters promises to be bigger and better than the previous and 2009 will certainly be no exception. This celebration of life is 100% volunteer driven which means that we are able to donate every penny to our partner charities. Advance purchase tickets (“Brotherhood” $5- firefighter/emt/military/veteran and “Friend” $15) are available online via Paypal at www.AdamsAngels.org or through event committee members listed on the webpage. Capacity is limited and if space permits on the night of the event, ticket prices will increase at the door. The evening features live music by classic rock cover band Braveheart, DJ Bubba Guitar and a special performance by members of the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Band. Saloon has generously opened their doors to host this wonderful fundraiser for the fourth year in a row and once again is offering a complimentary beverage to each attendee. Raffle tickets, 50/50 tickets and Adam’s Angels beer steins courtesy of JP Productions will be available for purchase.
Special 2009 Adam’s Angels Heroes & Halos Awards will be presented to organizations and individuals who exemplify the true meaning of brotherhood. The NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation, Inc. will be recognized as a partner of the Brother-2-Brother initiative and given a Heroes & Halos Award for their commitment to continue to support and advocate for FDNY members who are suffering from WTC illnesses in the memory of their founder, John McNamara who lost his own three year battle on August 9, 2009. We will also recognize FDNY Fire Marshal William J. Rohr’s longtime volunteer work with both Adam’s Angels and the FDNY Steuben Association with a Heroes & Halos Award. The third Heroes & Halos Award will be given to the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Band for providing dignity to the fallen members of the FDNY and their families by performing at over five-hundred funerals and memorial dedications since September 11, 2001 as well as for their 46- year dedication to Irish heritage and community service.
The Adam’s Angels Brother-2-Brother Initiative is an initiative created in 2008 by Adam's Angels in partnership with the SSGT Chris Engeldrum FDNY Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12033 & NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation, Inc. We provide support for those suffering from various illnesses because of the time they selflessly spent at the World Trade Center site & our heroic troops who are fighting the ongoing War on Terror to protect the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Together, we will make sure that those who put others first are ALWAYS taken care of and that their sacrifices are NEVER forgotten.
NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to the brotherhood of firefighting and the tradition that no man is left behind. Please visit: www.nycfirefighterfoundation.org for more information.
SSGT Chris Engeldrum FDNY Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12033 was started by veterans of the FDNY with SSGT Engeldrum as their memorial namesake. Please visit: www.fdnyvfw.com for more information.
Adam’s Angels have never and will never directly accept donations. However, we work tirelessly to help promote and raise funds for various causes that we believe in to help keep the memory of firefighter Adam D. Rand (FDNY Squad 288 & Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department) alive. Adam was killed on September 11, 2001 while saving others. Please visit our main website: www.adamsangels.org for more information.
